Hi, I’m Emerald Brantley
—Founder of Matrescence Care
I’m a Birth & Postpartum Doula, Nutrition and Dietetic Technician, Registered (NDTR), Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS), Christian, mom, and military spouse passionate about supporting families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenthood.
Through Matrescence Care, I provide holistic, evidence-informed support including birth and postpartum doula services, lactation and infant feeding guidance, maternal nutrition support, and nourishing postpartum meal preparation designed to promote healing, recovery, and overall family wellness.
Before entering doula work, I worked as a WIC nutritionist, supporting mothers and babies through prenatal nutrition, infant feeding, breastfeeding education, and postpartum wellness. That experience deepened my passion for caring for families in a practical, compassionate, and nourishing way.
As a mother myself, I understand how transformative pregnancy, birth, and postpartum can be. Whether through labor support, advocacy, infant feeding guidance, postpartum nourishment, recovery care, or emotional support, my goal is to provide care that is both evidence-based and deeply compassionate—supporting your family with presence, respect, and warmth every step of the way
My Approach
My approach blends evidence-based care with nurturing, individualized support tailored to each family's unique needs, values, and birth preferences. I believe every family deserves to feel informed, respected, and supported as they navigate pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum transition.
I value informed decision-making, open communication, and creating a calm, steady presence throughout your journey. During labor and birth, I encourage families to make empowered choices using the BRAIN Framework (Benefits, Risks, Alternatives, Intuition, and Nothing), helping you feel confident and informed when navigating decisions with your care team.
Throughout labor, I utilize a variety of comfort measures and labor support techniques, including positioning, movement, massage, counterpressure, breathing guidance, and the traditional Mexican Rebozo. Rooted in traditional Mexican birth practices, the rebozo can be incorporated throughout labor to encourage relaxation, comfort, gentle movement, and a sense of grounding during the birth experience.
During postpartum care, I utilize the NEAR Framework (Needs, Expectations, Alternatives, and Risks) to help families feel informed, confident, and supported throughout recovery and the transition into parenthood.
